I spent a few days in court last week assisting my husband in a trial. The entire process from selecting a jury to the closing statements was fascinating and in the “in between” I doodled some poems; this is one of them!

Two sides to every story

That’s what we see and hear

In the courtroom where we sit

with a jury of our peers

Reams of paper called exhibits

shuffle, pile, proliferate

with no certitude forthcoming

though there be long pontificate
